The Problem is That I Love To Code
OK, I get it.
Coding agents can make you faster.
Coding agents can make you more productive (well, maybe).
Coding agents are not taking my job, I am still a Software Engineer.
The code is not The Job. It is just a means to an end.
Yeah, that's fine, I get it. I am not dumb.
The problem is that I love to code. I don't like to review other people (or bot) code. That is something that I do because I have to and I believe it is my responsibility. But I got into Software Engineering because the act of building something, creating it basically out of thin air, giving (digital) form to what is in my mind, just makes me happy. And what makes me happy is not to see the end result, but the journey that led me there. Every line of code I craft that gets me to a working software.
I love to get into the flow, put on headphones with some EDM playlist and get to the point where I am so focused I don't even hear the music anymore. When it feels like time doesn't exists. When your fingers move in a way that seems they are independent from your body and your brain. I love to get in a universe where I am in control, where I know the rules, and that isolates me from all the shit going on in my life.
So yeah, I understand everything. But I just love to code.
